In the seventies, one glance at the microphones was enough to recognize the political system: if a Medusa head from different manufacturers protruded into the face of a politician, one saw a Federal Republican party congress.

If a man spoke into a battery of microphones of the same type, the images probably came from the Eastern Bloc.

A West German model was particularly popular there: the Sennheiser MD441, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. In April 1971 it was presented at the Hanover Fair and the Berlin International Radio Exhibition. Behind the inconspicuous name hides the designation "dynamic microphone", behind the angular microphone basket low-feedback and shock-absorbing technology made by hand.
