According to The Guardian, it is the Soviet television company Leningrad television's successor company 5TV that has fallen over the almost unknown television film in Leningrad television's archive and posted it on Youtube.
The news site Omni points out that, despite significant differences in budget and production design, there is only a ten year difference between Khraniteli's premiere and Peter Jackson's first Sagan om ringen film, which had its Swedish premiere in December 2001.
