The figures now observed in critical care are similar to those recorded in early November, shortly before the epidemic peak of the second wave.

According to the weekly report of the Hospices Civils de Lyon communicated on Tuesday, the pressure has clearly increased in intensive care during the past week.

In establishments managed by HCLs, admissions of Covid + patients in shifts increased by 27% between March 29 and April 6.

An upward trend which is confirmed throughout the Rhône department, where 23.5% more patients with coronavirus were treated in intensive care.

The virus is still actively circulating

To cope with this third wave which is sweeping over our territory, the CHU de Lyon has "armed" 35 additional beds in two weeks.

But the occupancy rate remains strong and "now stands at 95.3%", according to the HCL, with a majority of patients treated for Covid in these services (61.1%).

The curve of hospitalizations for all departments combined is also on the rise, but less markedly, with 477 patients currently treated at the CHU (+ 12.77% in one week) and 1,097 in the Rhône (+ 9.26%).

Until generalized containment takes effect, the Covid-19 monitoring indicators are likely to continue to climb.

In the metropolis of Lyon as in the whole of the department, the circulation of the virus, measured thanks to the rate of incidence of the disease, remains on the rise and high, even if the progression tends to slow down in recent days.

As of April 5, this rate stood at 557.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the agglomeration and 544 per 100,000 inhabitants in the Rhône.
