  In the first quarter, 9.66 million motor vehicles were newly registered, a record high in the same period.

In the first quarter of 2021, 9.86 million newly registered motor vehicles nationwide, an increase of 3.886 million compared with the same period last year, an increase of 67.31%; compared with the first quarter of 2019, an increase of 2.339 million vehicles, an increase of 31.96%, a record high in the same period.

In terms of vehicle models, 7.5 million vehicles were newly registered, an increase of 2.91 million vehicles or 63.33% compared with the same period last year; an increase of 1.233 million vehicles or 19.65% compared with the first quarter of 2019.

There were 2.03 million newly registered motorcycles, an increase of 954,000 units or an increase of 88.63% compared with the same period last year; an increase of 1.077 million units or an increase of 113.08% compared with the first quarter of 2019.

  The car ownership in 72 cities exceeds 1 million, and the car ownership in 16 cities exceeds 3 million.

As of March, there were 72 cities nationwide with more than 1 million vehicles, an increase of 5 compared with the same period last year.

Among them, 33 cities have more than 2 million cars and 16 cities have more than 3 million cars.

The number of cars in Beijing exceeds 6 million, the number of cars in Chengdu and Chongqing exceeds 5 million, and the number of cars in Suzhou, Shanghai and Zhengzhou exceeds 4 million.

  The number of passenger cars has reached 248 million, and the number of private cars has reached 229 million.

As of March, the number of passenger vehicles in the country was 248 million.

Among them, there are 229 million small and micro passenger cars (private cars) registered in the name of individuals.

In terms of new registrations, 6.43 million passenger vehicles were newly registered in the first quarter, an increase of 2.373 million compared to the same period last year, an increase of 58.53%; compared with the first quarter of 2019, an increase of 946,000, an increase of 17.26%.

In the first quarter, 1.03 million trucks were newly registered, an increase of 517,000 vehicles or 100.99% compared with the same period last year; an increase of 279,000 vehicles or 37.12% compared with the first quarter of 2019.

  The number of new energy vehicles reached 5.51 million, and 466,000 were newly registered in the first quarter.

As of March, the number of new energy vehicles nationwide reached 5.51 million.

Among them, there are 4.49 million pure electric vehicles, accounting for 81.53% of the total number of new energy vehicles.

In the first quarter, 466,000 new energy vehicles were newly registered, an increase of 348,000 vehicles or 295.20% compared with the same period last year; an increase of 216,000 vehicles or 86.76% compared with the first quarter of 2019.

New energy vehicle registrations accounted for 6.21% of new vehicle registrations.

  In the first quarter, 8.38 million drivers were newly licensed drivers, an increase of 5.386 million over the same period last year.

The number of motor vehicle drivers in the country reached 463 million, of which 425 million were car drivers, accounting for 91.86% of the total number of drivers.

In the first quarter of 2021, the number of newly licensed drivers nationwide was 8.39 million, an increase of 5.386 million compared with the same period last year, an increase of 178.99%; compared with the first quarter of 2019, an increase of 387,000, an increase of 4.83%.

  21.803 million vehicle and driving license services were processed online, an increase of 154.50% year-on-year.

In the first quarter of 2021, in order to properly prevent and control the epidemic, public security traffic control departments in various places will continue to vigorously implement 31 traffic control services online without leaving home.

The nationwide online procedures for renewing driving licenses and issuing temporary license plates were 21.803 million times, an increase of 13.236 million times compared with the same period last year, an increase of 154.50%.
