"Property rights are for the losers." You must be stopped by this famous sentence written by the international graffiti artist Banksy, in the exhibition that opened the day before yesterday, in the theater in "Mall of the Emirates" entitled "Banksy's World", which provides an overview of his works and case-laden murals. Political, philosophical and social.

The exhibition, which will continue until June 30, addresses the audience through Banksy's famous murals and paintings, as the number of works reaches nearly 120 works, while the number of rooms exceeds 10 rooms, which transmit to us stations from the experience of one of the most famous and mysterious international artists in the world. .

It is noteworthy that the works will be destroyed after the exhibition ends, because the goal is to share work, experience and feelings, not sell it, and Banksy is known to believe that art is a mass of feelings and has no property rights.

The largest exhibitions

The exhibition, which is organized in cooperation with the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, and which is one of the largest exhibitions held worldwide for Banksy's work, provides an overview of his most prominent works and several stations of his art with different cities, including Bristol, London and American cities.

Based on the mystery surrounding him and the very little information about him, "Banksy's World" offers a more in-depth look at his sources of inspiration and murals, especially the famous ones, such as "The Balloon Girl", "The Flower Thrower", "The Mobile Lovers", and other works that have turned into Icons signed by his name.

Attitudes towards life

The murals stop you with the controversial situation that they generate among the recipient, as the works are loaded with political issues that affect many countries, and bear many attitudes towards life and peoples, and the transmission of cultures without the children being aware of how these cultures are implanted inside them, and some of its murals tend to present life scenes that touch us all. We find it loaded with love and simplicity often.

The Chamber of Bethlehem is one of the most prominent rooms in the exhibition. In addition to its review of the political issue, it is considered one of the three-dimensional rooms in which the work merges between drawings on the walls and lighting, as well as sounds that motivate the viewer to live an integrated sensory experience.

And the political issues that he raises do not stop there, as we find his blatant positions towards terrorism and the terrorist bombing that struck the Bataclan theater in France in the painting in which the female is a victim with the scattered roses.

As for the mice that printed many of Banksy's murals, and explained his influence by the French graffiti artist, Blake Lee Rat, whose drawings of mice invaded the streets of Paris, and then Banksy worked to make these mice invade the streets of Europe, illustrating Banksy's feeling of great respect for Blake's experience in terms of subject and technique, Where he expressed that all he takes to inventing something new, it turns out that Blake introduced him 20 years ago.

Rats are one of the most frequently expressing symbols of Banksy's art, as he uses them to express the reproduction of rodents, in response to society's pest control, and to illustrate how graffiti on walls is proliferating as governments attempt to cleanse the city of street art.

Enriching thinking

The Director General of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Hala Badri, said: “This immersive exhibition will enrich the art scene in Dubai, and comes in line with the vision of (Dubai Culture) by promoting the location of Dubai as a global cultural center, an incubator for creativity, and a flourishing site for talent, and embodies (The World of Banksy)) The organization’s firm belief in the importance of activities of this kind and its role in enriching public thinking and culture, by providing residents and citizens with the opportunity to learn about international arts ».

Fouad Mansour Sharaf, General Manager of Shopping Centers in the Emirates, at Majid Al Futtaim Real Estate, said: “We are pleased to host the largest exhibition in the world for the artist Banksy in (Mall of the Emirates), and to cooperate with the College of Arts and Creative Industries at Zayed University, based on our website as a customer experience provider. Distinguished and real, we are committed to achieving unique interactive experiences for our community ».

The Marketing Director of "Majid Al Futtaim" malls, Nada Abu Saab, revealed to "Emirates Today" that the exhibition required a long time to be prepared, confirming that there is a plan to present similar exhibitions in the near future with new and varied experiences.

Teamwork

The producer of the exhibition, Aziz Vardar, assured to «Emirates Today», that the exhibition was produced through the long work of a team consisting of 10 artists from around the world, and that it is considered the fruit of the work of a team that continued working hours for nearly 40 days.

He pointed out that the main goal of the exhibition was to paint on the walls without changing them, and therefore I found in the exhibition some paintings in which the walls are distinguished by being many impurities, stressing that drawing streets requires the artist to adapt to the condition of the walls without changing it and drawing quickly, and this There is a challenge with time and it imposes adaptation to the specific condition of the walls.

As for the main challenge that accompanied the completion of the exhibition, Vardar pointed out that it is the number, as 20 murals and 40 works on canvas were supposed to be produced, but after his visit to Dubai and seeing what this city achieved, the number of works in the exhibition was modified to reach 120 works.

Surreal dinner

On the sidelines of the exhibition's opening, a surrealist dinner was held, where Banksy's famous works and murals took center stage.

He organized dinner on stage at the "Mall of the Emirates", and many of his paintings were printed on a canvas, the shadows of which were reflected through the lighting throughout the place, while the works were printed on the dishes and drinks, making his paintings part of the integrated scene.
