The Paris prosecutor's office has resumed the investigation opened by the Melun prosecutor's office after the burglary of the Tapie couple, assaulted during the night from Saturday to Sunday in his residence in Seine-et-Marne, he said Monday to the AFP.

“The Specialized Interregional Jurisdiction (Jirs) of Paris took up (Sunday) the facts suffered by Mr. Tapie and his wife the previous night.

The investigation, followed by the heads of theft in an organized gang, sequestration to facilitate the commission of an offense in an organized gang and criminal association, is entrusted to the Regional Directorate of the Judicial Police of Versailles, ”said the Paris prosecutor's office. .

Tied up with electric cables and hit

Around half past midnight on Saturday, Bernard and Dominique Tapie were surprised in their sleep in their home in Combs-la-Ville by four hooded attackers wearing black overalls who tied them with electric cables and beat them, before fleeing with two watches and jewelry.

The 78-year-old businessman, who suffers from double cancer of the stomach and esophagus, was notably hit with a baton on the head.

His wife Dominique, who received blows in the face, managed to get rid of her ties to go to a neighbor from where she gave the alert.

She was briefly hospitalized for consultation.

"The violence was all the stronger as they found nothing"

"My grandfather refused to be taken, he stayed at home, he is knocked out, very tired," Rodolphe Tapie testified to AFP on Sunday.

Dominique Tapie "was pulled by the hair because there was a treasure that had to be found ... Of course, there was no treasure, and the violence was all the stronger as they could not find anything ”, declared to AFPTV the LR mayor of this city located about forty kilometers south-east of Paris, Guy Geoffroy.

In the fall, the appeal for fraud in the controversial 2008 Crédit Lyonnais arbitration case was postponed due to Bernard Tapie's state of health, his illness having "very seriously progressed".

At a hearing at the end of March, however, his lawyer confirmed that he was "determined" to be present when the trial resumes scheduled for May.
