The arrest of a man suspected of being a mafia leader in Italy

Italian police in Sicily have detained a man believed to be a mafia boss after he returned home for Easter.

The Italian news agency ANSA reported today, that the man believed to be the head of the Pallarelli mafia left Italy for some time but returned to Palermo before Easter.

Ansa explained that the arrest took place during a festive banquet, while other Italian media reported that the arrest took place at the airport.

Police have arrested four other men, believed to be members of the Sicilian Cosa Nostra mafia.

The suspects face charges of extortion, assault, kidnapping and other serious crimes.

The raid was coordinated by prosecutors in Palermo and investigative bodies specialized in mafia gangs.
