A motley selection for the 4th edition of the heritage lottery.

The Heritage Foundation unveiled this Monday a list of 18 very different sites for the new edition of the Heritage Mission for the safeguarding of heritage in danger, entrusted to the host Stéphane Bern.

The 18 sites "reflect the diversity of heritage - there are religious buildings such as civil, agricultural, industrial or military buildings, including houses of famous personalities, but also a few castles", welcomed the Minister of Culture Roselyne Bachelot in a press release.

Among the lucky ones are an old dilapidated building of the Richelieu Stables in Gennevilliers (Hauts-de-Seine), the Marcel Proust-Maison de Tante Léonie Museum in Illiers-Combray (Eure-et-Loir), a house of a master of forge in Haute-Marne, the former penitentiary for children of Ilet in Reunion, the windmill of a sugar factory in Marie-Galante, or the post of director of shooting in the old fortification of the City from Alet to Saint-Malo.

The endowments granted through the Loto du Patrimoine will be announced during the next European Heritage Days in the autumn.

And, like every year, around a hundred new additional so-called “mesh” sites (one per department) will also be announced at the beginning of September.

The agreement, which allows the Ministry of Culture to allocate to the Heritage Foundation the levy on the sums wagered within the framework of the lotto, has been renewed for a new period of four years.

The sites will also be able to benefit from donations and sponsorship, and - for those historical monuments -, subsidies from the ministry.

Sign of a certain enthusiasm: 670 new projects were reported this year on the platform www.missionbern.fr.

This brings the sites identified since 2018 to 4,000.

The Heritage Mission has already helped 527 sites.

More than 260 have already been saved (182 projects in progress and 78 completed).
