On Sunday, April 4, the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards) took place in Los Angeles in virtual mode.

The main prize - for the best cast in a feature film - was awarded to the biographical thriller by Aaron Sorkin "The Trial of the Chicago Seven".

The movie is based on real events.

It tells how, in 1968, a group of protesters against the Vietnam War were accused of conspiring against the US government.

The roles in the tape were played by Sasha Baron Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mark Rylance, Eddie Redmayne, Yahya Abdul-Matin II, Jeremy Strong and other actors.

The film is nominated for an Oscar in six nominations, including the main one - for the best film.

Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman received the Best Feature Film Awards.

The artists starred together in the musical biographical drama "Ma Raini: Mother of the Blues" about the famous singer Ma Raini.

The latter passed away in August 2020 and received the award posthumously.

The award for Best Supporting Actress was awarded by the Screen Actors Guild to South Korean actress Yun Yeo-jung for her performance in Lee Isaac Chun's drama Minari.

The film also became one of the Academy Awards favorites with six Oscar nominations.

A similar male prize was awarded to Daniel Kaluuya for his role in Shaki King's film "Judas and the Black Messiah", and the artists who worked on the "Wonder Woman: 1984" project were recognized as the best team of stuntmen.

The selection of members of the Screen Actors Guild of the USA often coincides with the opinion of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which awards the Oscars.

So, last year, all the actors who were awarded the SAG Awards for their work in full-length projects won similar nominations for the Oscar.

Among them - Joaquin Phoenix ("Joker"), Renee Zellweger ("Judy"), Brad Pitt ("Once Upon a Time in ... Hollywood") and Laura Derne ("The Story of a Marriage").

In addition, the film "Parasites", which won the nomination for "Best Cast in a Feature Film", took four Oscars.

Including - for the best film.

However, as IndieWire notes, the outcome of these ceremonies does not always coincide.

Screen Actors Guild Award winners and nominees included Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place), Lupita Nyong'o (We), Taron Edgerton (The Rocketman) and Jennifer Lopez (The Strippers).

None of them were nominated for an Oscar for these projects.
