The spring national traffic safety campaign began on the 6th, and police and other organizations across the country are making various efforts with a particular focus on reducing accidents involving children.

The National Police Agency has analyzed in detail 915 preschool children who died or were seriously injured in a car accident while walking in the last five years.

According to this, by time of day, accidents occurred most often before and after sunset between 4 pm and 5 pm, accounting for 264 people, 29% of the total.

In the case of children, jumping out onto the road is conspicuous, and it is difficult for the driver to see during dark hours, which is also considered to be one of the factors.

In addition, 42%, or 386 people, were found to have had an accident within 100 meters of their home, and said that they need to be careful even in familiar places.

Police nationwide will make various calls on the streets during the traffic safety campaign from the 6th to the 15th of April, and will strengthen the guidance and crackdown on malicious drivers.
