A new episode of pollution hit a river in Finistère this weekend.

Often victims of spills, Brittany's waterways are regularly decimated by pollution of agricultural origin, in a region where the livestock sector is highly developed.

Saturday and Sunday, the Penzé was seriously affected by slurry pollution near Taulé, west of Morlaix.

According to the association Eau et rivières de Bretagne, "a poorly controlled pipe unblocking operation would have resulted in the discharge of tens - perhaps hundreds of thousands - of liters of slurry".

Dozens of fish were found dead by the Association approved for fishing and protection of the aquatic environment of the Pays de Morlaix (AAPPMA).

According to the Water and Rivers association, the slurry would have flowed into a tributary on the right bank of the Penzé "for lack of a functional retention system".

All the fish were killed for more than three kilometers and impacts are to be feared for the shellfish farming activities in the estuary.

The two associations have announced their intention to file a complaint for this umpteenth pollution.

And do not hesitate to list the multiple agricultural "accidents" that have caused pollution in waterways, including since the presentation of a departmental control plan in 2018: "the Jet, the Flèche, the tip of the Millier , the Quillimadec, the Stang, the Mignonne, the Naïc have since been wiped out for miles, the Belon a month ago ”.

Before demanding "a strong legal response" and "a real criminal hearing, without financial transaction with the polluters".
