Due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the "pulse oximeter" that measures the oxygen level in the blood is running out, so manufacturers are starting to increase production.

A pulse oximeter is a medical device that measures the level of oxygen in the blood, and is useful for catching signs of aggravation of people who are being treated at home or accommodation after being infected with the new coronavirus.

However, due to the spread of infection, the demand has increased and the products are running out, so manufacturers have started to increase production.

Of these, Konica Minolta will increase its production capacity to about 20 times that before the spread of the infection from next month.

We plan to increase the production line of the factory, including the contractor, and gradually increase the production volume as soon as parts can be procured.

Kazuhiro Kobayashi, General Manager of Healthcare Division, said, "Even if the patient does not have any subjective symptoms, proper use by doctors will lead to the awareness of changes. I want to deliver the equipment to those who need it."

In addition, medical device manufacturers in Gunma Prefecture are also preparing to triple their production capacity, and there are a series of moves to increase production.
