In order to portray the character Leya, Evin Ahmad did research in a world that was far from her own.

- I took a course at Stanford University called How to start a startup.

Then I hung out at the School of Business because I wanted to understand what types went there.

They are extremely high-performing people, says Evin Ahmad.

Her character Leya lives with her breath in her throat.

The start-up industry's fast money is slippery and difficult to hold on to.

The hunt sometimes crosses the line into self-destructiveness.

- It is so funny.

It's part of the course: How to avoid getting burned out and if you do, how to think.

That is a prerequisite for being able to become the next Steve Jobs, says Evin Ahmad.

Microphone in one hand and pistol in the other

In the short film I do not shine without you, my brothers, directed by Alexander Abdallah, depicts suburban differences with unusual tenderness.

A quality he brought with him to Snabba Cash and the role of Leyla's love interest: the sad gang member Salim.

- It was an acquaintance who told that he had robbed a person and then went home and cried in his bedroom.

That thing really stuck in my head.

No matter how hard you are out in the community, you go home and cry because you know you have done something that is not good.

That was the guy in the bedroom I wanted to get in Salim, says Alexander Abdallah.

The wedding singer Salim has a microphone in one hand and a gun in the other.

Alexander Abdallah liked the duality of the character.

- I told director Jesper Ganslandt that I wanted to work with vulnerability.

I have access to it privately and think fragility is a nice feeling that may not always be associated with these people, says Alexander Abdallah.

“A shame if everything goes to guys”

Evin Ahmad wrote about money already in her debut novel One Day I Will Build a Castle of Money (2018), where she meditates on the inequality between the suburbs and the inner city.

After Snabba Cash, she thinks about inequality is at the top of the financial industry.

- I was badly affected to see how many women are not allowed to take part of the capital that is available.

And it is super important that more women are involved in shaping Sweden and the world, says Evin Ahmad.
