On the 2nd of this month, the giant squid, which was found ashore on the coast of Nishikan Ward in Niigata City, was exhibited at an aquarium in Niigata City, and many people visited it.

The giant squid on display is approximately 2 meters long, 40 centimeters and weighs 106 kilograms.

It was already dead when it was discovered on the coast of Nishikan Ward, Niigata City, but the staff of "Niigata City Aquarium Marinepia Nihonkai" in Chuo Ward, Niigata City carried it to the aquarium in a car with eight people. It was exhibited for 2 days until the 4th.

It was exhibited in a state where it was soaked in ice water and covered with a transparent sheet from above, and parents and children took a commemorative photo and touched it from the top to check the feel.

At the aquarium, we have exhibited specimens of giant squid pickled in formalin, but this is the first time that they have been exhibited in such a state.

Little is known about the ecology of the giant squid that lives in the deep sea, and the aquarium will examine the contents of the stomach in detail.

Hiroyuki Imura, Deputy Chief of Exhibition at Marinepia Nihonkai, said, "I don't know much about squid, so I think everything I researched will be a discovery."

The 7-year-old boy who visited said, "It was big and amazing."
