The cultural exchange and the influence of culture and arts in creating common grounds and bridges for communication between peoples and civilizations is evident as an explicit content in the three art exhibitions, which were inaugurated at the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi yesterday morning, and will continue until September 20, 2021, namely: Exhibition "Muhammad Shebaa: Visual Consciousness", And the "History Murals" exhibition, as well as the "From Sinbad to Cinderella" exhibition.

Through five main chapters, the exhibition "Mohamed Shebaa: Visual Consciousness" presents a narrative narration of the path of the Moroccan artist Mohamed Shabaa (1935-2013), who is considered one of the symbols of the artistic movement in the Kingdom of Morocco, and traces the stages of his career, where he created a multidisciplinary approach and succeeded in embodying Cultural awakening in the Kingdom of Morocco in the post-independence era.

He also created his social concept of arts motivated by his desire to link art with architecture and craftsmanship and integrate them into society, through his numerous works as a painting and muralist, sculptor, teacher, graphic designer, interior designer, critic and writer.

The five chapters of the exhibition, supervised by the Moroccan curator Fatima Zahraa Lakrisa, in cooperation with Nour Al Muhairbi of the Cultural Foundation, monitor the development of Shebaa's ideas and artistic practices, and his influence on a number of disparate artistic sources, such as: the Bauhaus movement and the abstract movement that followed the war, as well as the school Avant-garde.

The exhibition begins with a chapter “Via the Global Vanguard (1957-1966)”, then “Shebaa and the Casablanca Community (1966-1969)”, followed by a chapter entitled “Hybrid Visual Language”, and deals with the stage from (1969-1983), while the fourth chapter bears the title "A Selective Visual Language (1983-2012)", while the fifth chapter is titled "Studio 400: From Graphic Design to Integrated Design."

History murals

Parallel to the solo exhibition of the artist Mohammed Shebaa, the collective exhibition “History Murals” was opened, which includes 15 artistic murals executed by 15 Emirati artists and residents of the country.

The curator of the exhibition, the artist Sumaya Al-Suwaidi, explained to "Emirates Today" that the idea of ​​the exhibition is in line with the exhibition of the artist Muhammad Shab'a, who is famous for presenting huge paintings "murals". Therefore, each artist who participated in the exhibition had to implement an artistic mural of 2.5 meters x 2.5 meters, provided that its theme is inspired by Arab and Islamic culture and well-known artists in the Arab world. Some took inspiration from the style of the Egyptian artist Hussein Bikar, or the Iraqi artist Dia al-Azzawi, while some tended to draw inspiration from Islamic themes, such as Islamic geometric shapes and employ them in a contemporary style, or stories From the past, while Islamic geometric shapes were chosen as decoration for the entire exhibition space, pointing out that the preparation of the exhibition took nearly a month, while the artists executed their murals within a week.

Participants in the collective exhibition are: Hamad Al Shamsi, Rafia Hussain Al Nassar, Abdullah Al Khaili, Reem Al Mazroui, Sultan Al Ramahi, Samreen Mehra Agarwala, Shah Al Hamid, Alaa Al Din Abdeen, Abdulrahman Abdullah Al Dark, Ali Ahmed Kashwani, Gary Young, Ghanem Mubarak, Fatima Al Hammadi Muhammad Khalid Al-Junaibi and Muhammad Qureshi.

"From Sinbad and Cinderella"

The exhibition "From Sindbad to Cinderella", organized by the German Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, in partnership with the Cultural Foundation, the Goethe Institute, and the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, traces cultural exchange between Germany and the Arab world, mutual influences, common ideas, and cultural transmission. Between the two parties, through a narrative narrative, he presents a manuscript display library that represents the research cooperation between the Egyptian Museum and the State Papyrus Museums Group in Berlin, Germany, and the German Arab Academy of Young Scientists in Sciences and Humanities.

For the first time, the exhibition offers its visitors the opportunity to learn about ancient stories, through the "Westkar Papyrus", the only manuscript of the Banu Hilal Bedouin, which is on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural and human heritage, in addition to the opportunity to learn about Arab creations written in the handwriting of the German poet Johann Goethe, as well as manuscripts and publications. The Brothers Grimm, and the classic Arabian Nights.

The Director of the Cultural Foundation, Reem Fadda, said about the announcement of hosting the three exhibitions, that “the three new art exhibitions cover different times and shed light on various artistic media, providing visitors with the opportunity to explore a set of artistic visions that had a prominent role in shaping the form of artistic awakening. In the post-independence phase in the Kingdom of Morocco, as well as learning about the contemporary art movement in the UAE, and exploring methods of cultural and knowledge exchange between two different cultures, through manuscripts, novels and literature ».
