  • The tension is felt in the intensive care units of hospitals in the region.

  • The objective is to increase their capacity, currently by 267 beds.

Sixteen.

This is the number of resuscitation beds still available at the moment out of the 267 hospitals in Pays-de-la-Loire have in total.

A tension which is becoming "very strong" in the region and which has forced the authorities to react.

"I asked all public and private establishments to deprogram at least 20% of their operations", announced the director of the ARS Jean-Jacques Coiplet, this Thursday evening.

A figure that rises to 40% at the Saint-Nazaire CH, for example, where the situation is particularly problematic.

The goal is to increase resuscitation capacity while 127 Covid patients are there this Thursday evening, out of a total of 885 people hospitalized.

“Cooperation between public and private establishments must be organized as best as possible,” continues Jean-Jacques Coiplet.

We will be able to organize patient transfers, personal loans… ”But also to welcome new patients from Ile-de-France, several of whom are scheduled for next week.

Sixteen have already been welcomed in recent times.

The situation is getting worse

This organization is necessary as the epidemiological situation continues to deteriorate in the region.

In one week, the incidence rate increased by 31% to reach 277 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

It is in Vendée where the increase is the strongest (+ 48%) with an incidence which now slightly exceeds the regional average (280).

“The epidemic is accelerating with a contamination rate of 1.3 [that is to say that ten people contaminate 13], notes Dr. Pierre Blaise, scientific director of the ARS.

The variant, which has become largely the majority, has changed the situation.
