Almost 100 days after the German vaccination started in the pandemic, almost
five percent of
the population has already received the second dose.
More than
11.5 percent received
at least the first injection, according to official data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).
According to the RKI, the progress made in vaccination is not enough to slow down the third wave of pandemics.
Scientists and medical professionals have been calling for a tough lockdown for days.
The health authorities in Germany last
reported
21,888 new corona infections to
the RKI within one day
, according to figures from Friday morning.
In addition,
232 new deaths were
recorded
within 24 hours
.
Exactly one week ago, the RKI had recorded 21,573 new infections and 183 new deaths within one day.
The data reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 5:20 a.m., subsequent changes or additions to the RKI are possible.
According to the RKI, the
number of new infections reported within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants (
seven-day incidence
) was

The RKI has counted 2,855,061 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 in Germany since the beginning of the pandemic.
The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.
The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at around 2,548,200.
The total number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 76,775.
According to the RKI situation report on Thursday evening, the
nationwide
seven-day R-value
was
0.99
(previous day: 0.97).
This means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 99 more people.
The value represents the occurrence of the infection eight to 16 days ago.
If it is below 1 for a longer period of time, the infection process subsides;
if it is consistently higher, the number of cases increases.
