Emmanuel Macron expressed the idea of reopening the terraces and cultural places in mid-May.

A possibility cautiously welcomed by cultural players, who have been sailing on sight since the start of the coronavirus epidemic.

Bertrand Thamin, the president of the national union of private theaters, expressed his reservations about Europe 1.

In mid-May, do what you want.

Emmanuel Macron sketched out on Wednesday evening, during his televised address, a goal of reopening the terraces as well as certain cultural places in a month and a half.

But the actors of the world of culture seem, for the moment, on the reserve.

Like Bertrand Thamin, the president of the national union of private theaters, who says he is "very measured" on Europe 1, the day after the speech of the Head of State.

"We don't have many" hopes anymore

"We remain very measured because we are well aware that no one, not even him, can project himself on the horizon of a month and a half when we do not already know what will happen in ten days ", affirms Bertrand Thamin at the microphone of Europe 1.

A reopening in mid-May?

The president of the national union of private theaters no longer believes in it.

For the past year, hopes of reopening have looked like a roller coaster.

"We do not have much," notes, bitter, Bernard Thamin.

"We really want the president to be right even if we have suffered a lot. The many promises have cost us a lot of money," he continues.

Wait a bit before getting organized

But for now, there is no reason to organize.

"We will wait until we reach a kind of plateau, then a slight decrease in the epidemic and at that time, we can begin to project ourselves towards a reopening", explains the president of the national union of private theaters.

Currently, cultural establishments are guided by only one thing: "to survive" and "not to file for bankruptcy".
