Miyagi Prefecture and Sendai City announced on the 1st that 133 new people have been confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus.
Of these, 68 people have been confirmed infected in Sendai City.
The city also revealed that one of the infected people so far was infected with a mutated virus reported in the United Kingdom and elsewhere.
The cumulative total of infected people in Miyagi prefecture is 6171 including those who have already recovered.
