Singer Dua Lipa and Celeste, songwriter and poet Arlo Parks, topped the list of nominations for the British "Brit" Pop Music Awards yesterday, as they each competed in three categories in this distinguished women tournament.

For the first time, women dominated the nominations in the album of the year category, as rapper J Has is the only man among the contenders for this award, which is considered the most important.

The list of five nominees in this category includes the 25-year-old British singer, Dua Lipa, for her album "Future Nostalgia". She is also nominated for the Best Female Singer and Best Single Song for "Physical" awards.

The singer previously won five nominations in 2018, and four in 2019. She shares the top nominations this year with soul Celeste singer and songwriter Arlo Parks.

Arlo Parks (20 years) of London, of French, Nigerian and Chadian origins, formed the discovery of the year 2021, as her first album "Collapsed in Sunbeams", which was released last January, led her to obtain three nominations in the categories of Best Album, Best Artist and Best Promising Artist. .

Celeste, 26, who won the BBC's Sound of 2020 program, was ranked in the three categories.

Against her, the rap duo, singers Young T & Buzzy and DJ Joel Corey, also received three nominations.

Last year's nominations were criticized for their very masculine character, as they did not include any women in the Best Album or Best Mixed Band categories.

As for the awards for foreign artists, nominees include Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and the South Korean BTS band.

The 41st BRET Awards ceremony will be held this year, on May 11th, instead of the usual February date, as other artistic award ceremonies have been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is not clear yet the formula that will be adopted to organize this celebration, which is usually held in the "O2 Arena" in London, as government measures did not allow for the reopening of concert halls until May 17, that is, after the date of the "Brit Awards".
