Designer Hong Jinshi from the Chinese coastal city of Xiamen made a pair of porcelain statues of the former president who meditated as a fun project for himself.
But the images of the statues spread and orders began to roll in.
Hong Jinshi therefore started selling the works and he hopes that Donald Trump himself sees the work.
- I hope he sees this and gets some comfort.
Maybe he can laugh at himself.
I think he would feel good from a little meditation, says Hong Jinshi.
He believes that it is the contrast between the often heated Donald Trump and the calm meditation position that has created the interest in the characters.
- In Chinese tradition, an old man should enjoy old age and the past successes of life, but Donald Trump still seems to worry and be insecure.
That is the contrast I have tried to capture in my work, says Hong Jinshi.
