It was on Tuesday that Malmö's culture committee decided to demand a total of SEK 225,000 back from the Arab Book Fair.

Partly 150,000 in cultural support, partly 75,000 in corona support that was received to be able to carry out the fair digitally.

But it was precisely the digital format that enabled the anti-Semitic book to be linked to the Arab Book Fair, according to Estabrak Essat, the fair's administrative coordinator.

- We have created accounts for each publisher where they can post their books on our website and we have not checked.

We apologize so much and take it upon ourselves that we made mistakes that did not check what the publishers posted, Estabrak Essat told SVT Skåne last year when the city of Malmö broke off cooperation with the fair precisely because of the previously mentioned link.

According to the City of Malmö, the link to the anti-Semitic book is contrary to the provisions for cultural support, in addition it was "a serious violation of the democratic conditions that apply to support from the City of Malmö".
