  • As everywhere in France, the situation is worsening in the Grand-Est.

    The hospitals are almost saturated.

  • The director of the ARS du Grand-Est announced on Wednesday the opening of 60 additional beds in intensive care.

  • Or 20 in Alsace, 20 in Lorraine and 20 in Champagne-Ardenne

The hospital saturation indicator is almost 100% in the Grand-Est.

In the graphs sent by the Regional Health Agency on Tuesday evening, it exceeded 95% on March 26.

As of March 29, 448 people were in intensive care, with 38 admissions for that day alone.

And since then, the situation has not improved, far from it.

Almost everywhere, alarm signals have been issued by nursing staff.

"The situation is catastrophic," said Professor Bruno Lévy, head of the intensive medicine and medical resuscitation department at the Nancy CHRU, on France Bleu.

"We are reaching our limits" declared Yves Hansmann, the head of the infectious diseases department at the Strasbourg civilian hospital.

Need arms

This Wednesday, still on the airwaves of France Bleu, the regional director of the ARS announced the opening of 60 additional beds in intensive care.

Or 20 in Alsace, 20 in Lorraine and 20 in Champagne-Ardenne.

“Setting up these beds requires additional human resources.

For this, we have several levers.

We have already used them in the spring and in the fall, and we are working on them again with the Ministry, ”explained Virginie Cayré, also launching a call for volunteers.

"You know, we had recourse to many volunteers during the first wave but clearly there are a lot less in 2021 than in 2020. We can also suggest to the deans to reorient the internships of the students and we can suspend some. training, to enable the personnel concerned to join certain services, in particular resuscitation.

"

In the Grand-Est, the incidence rate was lower than the national average on March 30, with 298 positive Covid-19 cases out of 100,000 inhabitants, cut to 377 in France.

But the situation is far from being the same everywhere, with in particular a very affected department of Aube (538), like certain metropolises including Reims (381), Strasbourg (326) and Nancy (329).
