WORLD:

A disease that can be associated with gas, bloating, or diarrhea is irritable bowel syndrome.

What's it all about?

Skander Bouassida:

The irritable bowel syndrome is associated with a very high level of suffering.

For some people, all of their youth perish as a result.

But the term "irritable bowel" is misleading.

As a coloproctologist, I see no irritation, no inflammation, no swelling, no aging of the intestines during an examination.

But there can be cellular causes, such as celiac disease or, in women, inflammation of the ovaries, or even a tumor on the ovaries.

IBS is an enormous cost factor: These patients demand a great many visits to the doctor.

It is understandable because these people suffer, go to the doctor, have a colonoscopy and many doctors say “They have nothing”.

However, the patient retains his complaints, feels that he is not being taken seriously or - possibly rightly - insinuates that the doctor has not grasped the problem.
