  • LREM deputy Anne Genetet said in a tweet on Tuesday morning that France was fourth in the ranking of countries to have administered the largest number of first doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

  • However, it excluded many countries with much greater vaccination coverage, such as Israel, Chile and Serbia.

  • According to France Inter, France is in 22nd place in the ranking of countries having injected the most first doses of vaccine against Covid-19.

France is "the fourth country in the world as a percentage of the population that has received a first dose" of vaccine against Covid-19, wrote Tuesday, LREM deputy Anne Genetet on her Twitter account.

"Tired of bashing France", the spokesperson for En Marche in the National Assembly reacted hot to an intervention by Professor Gilles Pialoux on France Inter.

The head of the infectious and tropical diseases department at Tenon hospital in Paris denounced in particular the choices of the executive in the face of the coronavirus epidemic.

France 4th country in the world in percentage of population who received a 1st dose # Fatiguee du bashing de France.

To support her point, the Member of the French Abroad highlighted a ranking dated March 28, 2020 from the Our World In Data site, affiliated with the University of Oxford.

Except that Anne Genetet did not seem to notice that this classification included only 19 countries, excluding in passing many others, yet very advanced in terms of vaccination.

Half an hour later, faced with indignant comments from Internet users, the politician clarified her remarks by publishing a new classification.

“The full chart puts us tied for 15th with Italy, Germany and Poland.

Largely honorable too, ”she commented.

Alas, this second statement is also wrong.

FAKE OFF

The Our World In Data site makes it possible to interactively explore the number of vaccinations and the rate of people vaccinated by country.

Each user can thus customize the states displayed, for example by selecting only those of the European Union or the OECD, for example.

In fact, the infographic published by the member omits many countries.

According to research by France Inter, which devoted an article to the publications of Anne Genetet, France is actually in 22nd place in the world ranking in terms of injection of first doses of a vaccine against Covid-19.

It is indeed necessary to include countries like Israel, Chile or Serbia, which have succeeded in setting up particularly important vaccination coverage.

In her second publication, the one which places France "in fifteenth place" in the ranking, the graph published by Anne Genetet changes, without specifying it, its configuration.

This time it is based on the number of doses of vaccine administered per 100 people.

Once again, the member is wrong.

France is in 29th place in the world ranking, notes France Inter, which specifies that, even excluding countries that can be considered as micro-states (such as Bahrain or the Maldives), France would then be at 22nd place.
