Two unions of general practitioners (MG France) and dispensing pharmacists (FSPF) asked the government on Wednesday to give them access to vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, previously reserved for hospitals and health centers. vaccination.

Suspended for more than a month from insufficient deliveries of AstraZeneca, liberal caregivers are pressing to be able to use the other anti-Covid vaccines.

Easier storage

Because among general practitioners, "the waiting lists of eligible patients (...) total more than 8 million candidates", affirms in a press release MG France, which "calls for the provision of all vaccines", including those to ARN, whose "storage conditions have evolved, making them much more accessible in town".

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) in fact authorized the storage of Pfizer's serum last week at standard freezer temperatures (between -15 ° C and -25 ° C, against -60 ° C to -90 ° C). previously), as was already the case for Moderna.

"We have the skills and the necessary equipment," assures Philippe Besset, president of the FSPF, in a joint statement with the Association of Rural Mayors of France (AMRF).

Pharmacies could "vaccinate a million people per week"

Pharmacies, which are "often the only point of access to the health system" outside large urban centers, could "vaccinate a million people per week," say these two organizations.

"Refusing them to administer messenger RNA vaccines (...) would further delay the achievement of the collective immunity necessary to regain normal life", they add.

Tuesday, during a weekly press briefing on the vaccination campaign, the Ministry of Health indicated that "Pfizer is intended to go to vaccination centers", but that "the question arises for Moderna, which could quite move into town ”.

In the meantime, the Liberals will continue to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine (3 million doses expected in April), to which will be added that of Janssen (Johnson & Johnson group), which requires only one injection and should "arrive in the second fortnight in April ”, with 600,000 doses planned before May.
