The red fire ant is recognized as one of the hundred most dangerous invasive species in the world. Its main characteristics are its aggressiveness and biting toxicity.

On March 31, the staff of the Disinfection and Vector Control Institute of the Jiangsu Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention accepted an exclusive interview with a reporter from the China News Agency and answered topics such as how to prevent red fire ants from being bitten and emergency treatment of wounds.

Disease control experts said that people should not touch the ant colonies hidden in the grass when playing in the wild. If they are bitten by red fire ants, they should wash their wounds with clean water or alkaline soap as soon as possible. The hospital conducts symptomatic treatment.
