The Glastonbury Festival may have been canceled for the second year in a row, but organizers have not given up entirely.

Emily Eavis has indeed announced on the BBC that a special event has been organized for May 22.

This five-hour livestream concert will bring together Coldplay, Damon Albarn, Jorja Smith, Kano, Haim and Wolf Alice, on several iconic sites of the festival.

“It will be exactly like the festival, but without the people,” she said.

Going a step further than a simple live concert webcast, Emily Eavis announced "special guest appearances and collaborations" and described the show as "an epic trip to the site" of the festival, the Worthy Farm.

The show will be directed by Paul Dugdale, who was already behind the camera for the recordings, broadcast by Netflix, of the world tours of Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift.

"We hope that people who watch this from home can enjoy a moment that will allow them to be in the spirit of the festival," added Emily Eavis, who had regrettably announced last January that "Glasto" was would not take place again this year.

Tickets for this special event are on sale now.

And the proceeds will not only go to charities supported by the festival (Oxfam, Greenpeace and WaterAide) but also to ensure Glastonbury can take place next year, as uncertainties around the pandemic persist around the world.

Emily Eavis also advises those who want to reproduce the atmosphere of the legendary festival to invite their friends to their garden (the only meeting authorized by the British health authorities, according to stage two of Boris Johnson's roadmap for a return to “normal” life).

It's not quite Glasto, but almost ...
