Will it be Roald Dahl's court illustrator Quentin Blake, a Swedish author like Ilon Wikland or perhaps a reading promotion organization?

This year's list of nominees for the Alma Prize includes 262 candidates, of which 69 are completely new to the list.

They are authors, illustrators, narrators and reading promoters who have been nominated by various international nomination organizations.

The candidates come from all over the world, and this year there are also nominees from countries such as Afghanistan, Albania, the Dominican Republic, Mongolia, Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

But it is the United Kingdom that has the most names on the list, 20 of them.

Sweden has the second most with 14 candidates, including Pija Lindenbaum, Jakob Wegelius and Monika Zak.

Last year, the prize went to the South Korean illustrator Baek Heena, who thus received five million kronor in prize money.

Heena was published by Trasten in Sweden, one of the few publishers that specializes in translated children's literature.

The winner will be announced today, Tuesday 30 March at 13:00.
