Today, Tuesday 30 March at 13:00, it will be revealed who will receive this year's Alma Prize - the world's largest prize for children's and young people's literature.

The award has existed since Astrid Lindgren's death in 2002 and is given to individuals or organizations that operate in the spirit of Astrid Lindgren and who uphold democratic values.

The winner will receive SEK 5 million.

This year, 262 candidates are nominated from a total of 68 countries.

From Sweden are Ilon Wikland, Pija Lindenbaum, Jakob Wegelius and Monika Zak, among others.

The winner will be announced without an audience at the TioTretton library in Stockholm.

In short: This is the Alma Prize. 

Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA), was established in 2002 by the Swedish government to protect children's right to good stories. 

The prize is awarded annually to the person or organization whose work has contributed to the literature for children and young people all over the world. 

The prize money is SEK 5 million and is the largest of its kind. 

The winner will be presented today (31/3) at 1 pm, at a live press conference from the TioTretton library in Stockholm.
