The French read a little less in 2020, but more of them did.
This is the teaching that emerges from the barometer "The French and reading" published by the CNL (National Book Center) and Ipsos on Tuesday, reports Francetvinfo.
The reason for this drop?
In particular teleworking and the "porosity that this has caused between reading related to work or studies and reading for pleasure"

But if the French are less likely to "perceive themselves as" readers of books "" (in particular the 18-34 years), at least 80% of them read at least one book last year.
"The French have never valued reading so much and so assertively as in 2020", thus affirms the study.
Prices are on the rise
If the novels always have a place of choice among these readings, it is the essays, the investigative and current books which gained ground.
The study also notes that the comic was dethroned from third place by the history books.
Finally, the readers favored the classics, the big names or the big literary prizes.
