Faced with the third wave of the Covid-19 epidemic which is sweeping over France, the government continues to call employees to telework.

This Tuesday, Elisabeth Borne recalled that it was "an obligation", under penalty of "sanctions".

"We are not in the incentive, I want to be very clear, it is an obligation", supported the Minister of Labor on Tuesday, reports BFMTV.

“There is an obligation of the employer to protect the health of its employees.

The concrete translation of this obligation is what is written into the health protocol in the company, it is necessary to telework as soon as possible ”.

To ensure compliance with this measure, the Minister promises to strengthen controls in companies.

“There are many interventions by the services of my ministry, in particular the Labor Inspectorate, first to support but also to control and sanction them.

I say it again, it is an obligation, ”she insisted.

Less use of telework

On Monday, a government source admitted to AFP a failure on incentives for teleworking: "Every time we say:" Telework ", we see a rise in telework, then it slackens".

According to a Dares study published in late March, the number of people telecommuting all week continued to decline in February.

According to this monthly survey, carried out in early March among companies with ten or more employees, 26% of employees had teleworked at least one day in February, a figure that has remained stable since December.

But only 31% of these teleworkers were there all week, after 34% in January, 39% in December and 44% in November.

Almost one in two (48%) was done between two and four days a week, 14% one day a week and 7% only a few days in the month.
