In Vietnam, a flight attendant has been sentenced to two years probation for breaking the corona quarantine rules.

A court in Ho Chi Minh City found after a day's trial that the 29-year-old was guilty of “spreading dangerous infectious diseases”.

After landing from Japan and two negative corona tests, the man who worked for the national company Vietnam Airlines did not adhere to the strict 14-day quarantine requirement and instead met 46 people in a restaurant and an English course, among other places .

When the flight attendant tested positive at the end of November, he had already infected at least three people with the virus, it said.

A police report revealed that around 2,000 people subsequently had to be tested and quarantined.

This alone cost almost $ 200,000, or 170,000 euros.

Since the defendant had no previous convictions, the sentence was suspended.

Vietnam with its around 96 million inhabitants has so far got through the pandemic very lightly thanks to extremely strict measures.

As of Tuesday, only just under 2,600 cases of infection had been recorded, and 35 people had died in connection with Covid-19.

At the car manufacturer Volkswagen in Zwickau, the first employees have been vaccinated against Corona since Tuesday.

This makes the car manufacturer one of the first industrial companies in Germany where company doctors are involved in the vaccination campaign.

According to VW, DRK and Saxony's Ministry of Health, it is a model project.

“It is not yet possible to involve company doctors across the board,” emphasized the ministry on request.

"But with this test you can gain valuable experience."
