The “final” of Group I between Guinea-Bissau and Congo, fighting for second qualifying place for Cameroon, turned to the advantage of Lusophones (3-1).

The Congolese needed a draw to return to the African Cup, they left Bissau with a stinging defeat which qualifies their opponents at the same time.

Guinea-Bissau has come a long way, she who was four points behind Congo at the start of the home stretch of these March qualifications.

Baciro Kandé's team did not miss its chance to qualify for a third CAN in a row even if it had to wait for the last seconds of the first period to open the scoring thanks to Piqueti (45 + 1).

In the second half, Frederic Mendy scored the goal of the break (73rd) before Jorge Intima, known as “Jorginho” definitively put an end to the hopes of the Red Devils.

In the other match of the group, Eswatini came close to a huge achievement by leading the score against Senegal, until stoppage of play and the equalizer of Cheikhou Kouyaté (90 + 6).

However in this meeting without stake between Senegal, qualified and assured of finishing first of the group, and Eswatini, last of the group, it is the visitors who surprise the vice-champions of Africa.

Sabelo Gamedze, with a masterful volley at the entrance to the area crucified Senegalese goalkeeper Seny Dieng (9th).

The Lions had just conceded their second goal of the playoffs again against… Eswatini.

From then on the match was summed up in a (very) long session of attack against defense until the late equalizer of Kouyaté.

It's not gone far ...
