Tribeca is celebrating its 20th anniversary and is planned to take place outdoors in various locations in New York with the help of portable cinema screens, reports The Wrap.

"The Tribeca Festival was founded to unite people in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.

We still do.

As New York emerges from the shadows of covid-19, it feels right to bring people together physically again for our 20th anniversary, "said Tribeca's co-founder Robert De Niro in a press release.

About 45 percent of New York cinemas have reopened after being closed for nearly a year due to the pandemic.

The festival takes place between 9 and 20 June. It is not yet known which films will be shown.
