The castle tower of Inuyama Castle, a national treasure of Aichi Prefecture, is believed to have been built immediately after the battle between Hideyoshi and Ieyasu, and is about 50 years newer than previously thought, but it is said to be the oldest castle tower in existence. It was found in a survey of building materials conducted by the Nagoya Institute of Technology Graduate School and others that it was supported.

The castle tower of Inuyama Castle in Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture, was built by Nobunaga Oda's uncle Nobuyasu around 1537 as a result of a survey accompanying a large-scale repair conducted from 1958. The prevailing theory was that the 3rd and 4th floors were expanded about 60 years later.

Professor Kazuyoshi at the foot of the graduate school of Nagoya Institute of Technology, who received a request from Inuyama City, analyzed the main building materials of the castle tower, such as pillars and floorboards, from 1585 AD for the first time. It was found that it had been cut down for three years and it seems that it was built from the 1st floor to the 4th floor at once.

This period was immediately after the battle between Hideyoshi Toyotomi and Ieyasu Tokugawa, and Inuyama Castle was in the sphere of influence of Nobunaga's second son, Nobunaga.

According to the city, it is about 50 years newer than previously thought, but before the Battle of Sekigahara, it was confirmed that it is the oldest castle tower in existence.

Expert "This survey is a groundbreaking achievement with very important significance."

Professor Kazuyoshi at the foot of the Nagoya Institute of Technology graduate school, who conducted the survey, said, "This survey revealed that the castle tower of Inuyama Castle was built in its current form from the beginning. It's a groundbreaking achievement that has important implications. "

In addition, Takumi Mitsutani, a visiting researcher at the Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, who cooperated with the survey, said, "We surveyed all the visible building materials of Inuyama Castle.
