On the sidelines of a demonstration against the current Corona measures in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, a police officer was bitten by a 51-year-old man on Sunday afternoon.

According to police, the man refused to wear a mouth and nose cover.

When he was about to be excluded from the demonstration, he attacked a 28-year-old police officer.

Several officers overpowered the assailant, who was subsequently taken to a hospital because he was unwell.

He has been charged with resisting law enforcement officers.

The policeman was slightly injured.

As the police announced, around 50 people had initially demonstrated peacefully on Sunday afternoon in downtown Parchim in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district.

Then around 30 other participants would have gathered for a second protest march.
