Michel Drucker in "Vivement dimanche" -

Guillaume GAFFIOT - Bestimage

Nothing stops him.

The host Michel Drucker, 78, returns to service this Sunday on France 2, less than a year after a heavy heart operation and "a long crossing of the desert" which he recounts in a book.

"I feel like a top athlete preparing for one of the most important events of his life," said the presenter and friend of the stars, more than 55 years of television to his credit.

His challenge?

The recording of his program

Vivement dimanche

which, pandemic obliges, is shot without an audience and with “about twenty guests” received in small groups of 4-5 people.

Happy to find his red sofa, on which he has received celebrities since 1998, the host has planned, with his co-producer of always Françoise Coquet, "a Sunday of reunion" under the sign of cheerfulness, with "all our gang comedians ”, including Laurent Gerra, Anne Roumanoff, Eric Antoine, Les Chevaliers du fiel.

"I thought I would never come back"

This return, he did not imagine it only a few months ago.

“I thought I would never come back.

It seemed unthinkable to me because I had really fallen very low physically and intellectually, ”he says.

Last year, “it started with a germ that infected part of my heart and started blocking the artery in my right leg.

I was almost amputated a few days before the operation (in September 2020).

So in principle, I should never have come back and I was unlikely to come back with my two legs, ”says the host.

He decided to make this “unusual adventure” into a book - his sixth - entitled

Ca ira better tomorrow

, to be published at the end of April by Robert Laffont.

It is "a tribute to the public hospital and to the nursing staff", underlines Michel Drucker, as well as an encouragement "for all those who have known this, who have difficulty resurfacing".

In order to "tell them that we can do very well if we have a very strong mind and a healthy lifestyle".

An iron discipline that Michel Drucker applies rigorously because he cannot imagine slowing down the tempo.

"I think of the ten seasons (of

Vivement dimanche

) which are coming", laughs the star of the small screen who is also planning the resumption of his second show,

From you to me

, interrupted last year by the pandemic.

He wants to go back on stage in January 2022.
