  • About 2,000 people marched this Sunday afternoon, in Rennes but also in Nantes.

  • Objective: to give voice while the climate bill is examined in plenary session Monday in the Assembly.

"When it's melted, it's screwed", "Let's burn the lobbies, not Australia": while several marches took place this Sunday throughout France, the mobilization also won the West.

Several thousand demonstrators, often very young, notably marched in Nantes and Rennes to demand a climate law "as ambitious as possible".

"The climate law as it is today is an empty shell," said Grégory Dos Santos, 37-year-old electrician, member of the Citizen's Climate Convention (CCC), whose work inspired the bill examined Monday in plenary session in the National Assembly.

“The government has revoked the measures presented by citizens, without asking their opinion.

The people have appropriated them and walk in the streets to defend them, ”he added.

"You need steps like that for something to happen."

"That the politicians hear these marches"

In a festive atmosphere and under a bright sun, 1,700 people marched in Rennes according to the police and 2,500 according to the organizers.

Many students, teens, and even young children held up signs such as "Earth is the only planet where Kouign Amann exists, let's save it", "Plastic in the Kardashians, not in the ocean", or "L 'utopia is to believe that we can continue like this ”.

"What citizens want is for politicians to hear these marches," underlined Christophe Claude, of Oxfam, who promised that there would be others.

In Nantes, the police counted 1,400 demonstrators and the organizers 2,000 who marched in a good-natured atmosphere behind a banner "Climate: stop blah blah."

Make way for action ”.

"The objective is to show the deputies that we are looking at them and that we want them to make this law as ambitious as possible as the citizens of the CCC wanted", explained Agathe Daniel, of Climates.
