CAN 2021 qualifiers: Tunisia on top, Guinea second behind Mali

There was no longer any real suspense in the matches of groups A and J this Sunday March 28, in the qualifiers of the CAN 2021. With its defeat against Namibia (2-1), Guinea finished second in group A , at a point in Mali.
In Group J, Tunisia completed its almost perfect run with a victory against Equatorial Guinea (2-1), while Tanzania dominated Libya (1-0).

Already assured of its qualification for the
12th CAN in its history
with its 11 points on the clock, Guinea had only one challenge to take up this Sunday against Namibia: to win to seize the first place in the group A, occupied by the other nation already qualified, Mali (13 points).
The mission started well with the opening of the score of Mamadou Kane, at the conclusion of a lightning counterattack (17th).
But in the extra time of the first act, Peter Shalulile equalized with a smashed header (45 + 2nd).
In the second half, the Mamelodi Sundowns player scored twice, after receiving the ball from a corner (77th).
Namibia thus signs a third victory in these qualifiers, but it only ranks third with 9 points, behind the Malian leader (13 points) and the national Syli (11 points).
Chad is last with a point.
In Group J, Tunisia confirmed their superiority by offering themselves a fifth victory (for a draw).
Equatorial Guinea, second in the group is
guaranteed to be on the trip to Cameroon in
early 2022, gave in to the Eagles of Carthage.
Seifeddine Jaziri won his duel (4th), then Carlos Akapo scored against his camp (52nd).
Equatorial Guinea saved the honor at the end of the match thanks to another goal against their own camp, this time signed by Tunisian Firas Chaouat (88th).
With five wins and a draw, Tunisia is, for the moment, the brightest of the nations qualified for CAN 2021 (16 points).
Mathematically, only Senegal, in Group I, can do as well.
The Téranga Lions will have to beat Eswatini on March 30 to equal the Tunisians' points total.
In the other Group J match played this Sunday, Tanzania beat Libya with a header from Simon Msuva (45 + 2nd).
The Tanzanians finish in third place with 7 points, Libya is last with 3 points.
