As if Corona has disappeared from the world ... a ceremony attended by 5000 spectators for a clinical trial

A ballroom in Barcelona made a trip back in time to before the pandemic, hosting a rock band concert with 5,000 spectators without any distance between them, as part of a clinical trial designed to show the ability to revive parties despite the epidemic.

The spectators interacted with great enthusiasm with the performance of "Love of Lesbians", one of the most prominent bands on the Spanish independent music scene, as they sang, danced and jumped as if the pandemic had disappeared during the evening.

The ceremony was organized by a group of festivals as well as concerts in cooperation with a local hospital, in a rare experiment of its kind in Europe today.

A similar event was held in the beginning of March in the Netherlands, with about 1,300 people.

The organizers were keen to take preventive measures, including subjecting the attendees to Corona examinations, placing them with protective masks of the "FFP2" type, and ventilating the place well at all times.

Before the ceremony, dance floors in three destinations in Barcelona, which are currently closed due to the pandemic, were transformed into field hospitals where members of health workers conducted antibody tests for all participants.

The negative result was to prove that the bodies of the participants were free of the Corona virus, a condition for activating their entrance tickets to the ceremony via smart phones.

Ventura Barbara, executive director of the Sonar Festival in Barcelona, who is one of the organizers of the project, told AFP that the aim of this clinical trial is "to discover how we will be able to live with (Covid) and organize parties completely safely."
