In celebration of World Poetry Day, the Abu Dhabi Center for Arabic Language, affiliated to the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, organized a virtual poetry evening, during which it launched a new poetry series entitled "Eyes of Arabic Poetry."

The series includes masterpieces of Arabic poetry, starting from the pre-Islamic era to the present day, which deal with topics such as glory, harmony, pride, loyalty, night, rain, ruins, tolerance and other topics, and will be issued in stages, so that 30 books will be issued dealing with 30 topics in the first phase, with a total of Books in this series to 100 issues in the form of pocket books.

The literary evening hosted by the center on the 21st of this month, was attended by the professor of narratives and modern literary criticism at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Bahrain, Dr. Dia Al-Kaabi, the Emirati poet Amal Al-Sahlawi, the professor of modern literary criticism in the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at the University of Jordan Dr. Youssef Hamdan, and the professor of literature and criticism The conversation in the Arabic Language Division at the Language Center at the University of Jordan was the poet Dr. Maha Al-Atoum, and Professor of Literature and Criticism at Al-Azhar University at the Faculty of Arabic Language, the Egyptian poet Dr. Alaa Janb, while the media evening and the Bahraini poet Dr. Parween Habib moderated the event.

Ali bin Tamim, head of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language in the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, said: “Poetry is an essential literary component of Arab culture, as it is the repository of the Arab’s wisdom and the focus of his pains and hopes. , He is the speaking tongue of the tribe who will perpetuate the exploits of his people, and he will fight for them if necessary. ”

“Perhaps the Arab culture is one of the few cultures in the world that preserved its poetic heritage through oral transmission and preservation in the breasts, until other means of preservation were available to it.

Almost every one of the various Arab environments is devoid of poetry, narration and chanting in councils and forums.

Hence, the idea of ​​this series, which is being published by the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, came in conjunction with the celebration of the World Poetry Day, which falls on March 21 of each year, with the aim of informing the Arab reader of the mysteries of his poetic heritage and the eyes of his poems and the unique verses of his verses, and to give him a clearer picture of the changes that have taken place. Poetry, language, style, imagination, and visions ».
