[Rural Revitalization] Three Gorges Late-ripening Navel Orange Flowers and Fruits in the Same Tree

On March 25, in Fengjie County, Chongqing, located in the heart of the Three Gorges Reservoir area, the navel orange trees all over the mountains were golden.

Fengjie navel orange, a Chinese geographical indication product, was cultivated in the Han Dynasty.

According to historical records, when the poet Du Fu of the Tang Dynasty lived in Kuizhou (now Fengjie County), he was responsible for the large-scale planting of navel oranges in the local area, managed the orange orchard and wrote the poem "When the orange grows up, three inches are like gold".

When the Three Gorges Dam was built, a large number of farmers moved from the mountain to the mountain, and they turned the barren slopes into fruit gardens.

After more than 10 years of cultivation and development, both sides of the reservoir area are now full of navel orange trees, and the navel orange industry has become a "sweet" industry for local farmers to increase their incomes.

At present, Fengjie navel oranges have a planting area of 370,000 mu, with an output of 370,000 tons, which are sold at home and abroad, with a comprehensive output value exceeding 3.5 billion yuan.

Farmers in the Three Gorges Reservoir area rely on planting navel oranges to get rid of poverty and become rich. The vigorous development of the navel orange industry also promotes the revitalization of villages in the reservoir area.
