Is France ahead of its European neighbors in terms of vaccination against the Covid-19 epidemic?

In any case, this is what the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, invited this Wednesday on the set of Jean-Jacques Bourdin, for BFMTV and RMC said.

According to Gérard Darmanin (@GDarmanin), "our neighbors vaccinate a little less than us" pic.twitter.com/MP3jk6OJBj

- BFMTV (@BFMTV) March 24, 2021

"But, M. Bourdin, what are our neighbors doing around us?"

“, Rhetorically questioned the first cop in France.

“Well, if I look, they vaccinate a little less than we do.

".

Puzzled, the reporter pointed out that it probably depended on the neighbor.

This is the case of "Italy, Spain, Germany", insisted Gérald Darmanin.

But is this really the case?

FAKE OFF

In Europe, as of March 22, more than 60 million doses, cumulative first and second, have been distributed to residents according to Euronews.

The UK, with around 29 million first doses administered as of March 25, is way ahead of its neighbors.

Germany, France and Italy, the countries mentioned by Gérald Darmanin, follow each other very closely.

The Germans are in the lead with 7,233,931 first doses injected across the Rhine on March 20, against 6,870,993 in France on March 24, and 5,997,336 in Italy on March 26.

Spain, it is slightly behind with 4,447,534 first doses administered on March 24.

The data collected by Our world in data makes it possible to compare these four countries with regard to the number of doses of Covid-19 vaccine administered per 100 people (out of the total population).

Thus, on March 24, France was actually behind its European neighbors with 13.82 doses per 100 inhabitants, against 14.02 in Germany, 14.09 in Italy and 14.16 in Spain.

Gérald Darmanin is therefore wrong.
