The actor will play the role of Kent Nelson, aka Dr. Fate, a good guy to whom the secrets of magic are revealed, and who receives the Magical Helm of Fate.

It is, as the

, one of the oldest characters of DC Comics, this one having made his first appearance in 1940.

The Irish actor thus joins a cast made up of Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Dwayne Johnson in the title role, that of the ambiguous Black Adam, evil version of Shazam !.

Filming is scheduled to begin in April in Atlanta, Georgia, with Jaume Collet-Serra directing.

No element of the script has yet been released, but the script was written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani.
