The city of Sète (Hérault), whose festivals are very popular every summer, unveiled a "plan B" for their organization on Wednesday, due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

The concerts will take place… in the port.

“Due to health regulations, the Théâtre de la mer [which usually hosts festivals] will only be able to fill part of its 1,600 seats, which makes the organization of concerts uncertain.

We could not bring ourselves to a blank season.

We have therefore acted, with the agreement and support of the port of Sète ", managed by the Occitanie region," a plan B which consists in repatriating the festivals to the ferry terminal on the quay of Morocco ", detailed the mayor, François Commeinhes [LR], in a press release.

1,600 seats

This platform, located near the town center of the Singular Island, has a capacity of 1,600 seats, in compliance with barrier gestures, i.e. the equivalent of the Théâtre de la Mer in normal times. specified the chosen one.

In 2020, the singular island had also adapted its cultural season by reconfiguring the Théâtre de la Mer, an exceptional cultural setting, located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, to host open-air cinema screenings.

And the festivals had organized concerts and reduced-format events all over the city.
