Since the government is instead encouraging outdoor activities, where the risk of contamination is less, Parisian parks were taken by storm on Saturday.

  • Sixteen departments have known a new kind of confinement since Saturday.

  • But other regions have a worrying epidemic situation and could also fall into this group of confined.

reviews regions potentially on the verge of containment.

There is therefore still no third national confinement in France: the government preferred Thursday announcing a "light" confinement for 16 departments: those Ile-de-France and Hauts-de-France as well as the Alps- Maritimes, Eure and Seine-Maritime.

However, Olivier Véran, the Minister of Health, said this Sunday in

Le Parisien

: “The weeks ahead will be difficult, the wave is rising.

It is therefore a safe bet that the new containment measures are intended to reach other departments.

Several members of the scientific council, who spoke to the press this weekend, did not hide it.

Retail review.

Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

This is the first region that was cited by Olivier Guérin, new member of the Scientific Council in an interview in

Nice-Matin on

Saturday.

However, on the scale of the second most populous region in France (8 million inhabitants) the incidence rate is “only” 231 infections per 100,000 people according to the Covidtracker site.

Or less than the last alert threshold, set at 250. The congestion of intensive care units (80% of beds occupied by Covid-19 patients) is significant, increasing but not soaring.

Moreover, overall, the number of hospitalizations is rather decreasing.

The problems are in fact more localized in the Rhône and Haute-Savoie.

In these two sectors, the incidence rate is approaching 300 and the intensive care units are saturated.

Great East

In the Grand-Est, what worries is the rapid increase in intensive care admissions.

Since the beginning of March, the bed occupancy rate by Covid-19 patients has suddenly dropped from around 60 to 84%.

The number of cases is also skyrocketing.

In detail, the resuscitation services of the Moselle, at the center of attention for a few weeks without going under confinement even on weekends, are saturated.

But it is the more rural department of Aube that worries.

The admissions to the hospital in general and in intensive care soar as the cases: 142% of occupied beds and an incidence of 350 cases per 100,000 people.

Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

Here, three departments are worrying: in the Doubs, resuscitation services are more than saturated with the equivalent of 120% of beds (the reference for the total number of beds is taken from what existed before the health crisis) occupied and this since weeks.

In Yonne, Nièvre and the Territoire de Belfort, if there is still a little room in the hospital (between 50 and 60% occupancy), the number of cases is skyrocketing.

In the last city, a very small department, the incidence rate is already 320 cases per 100,000 people.

Nearby, the Côte-d'Or and the Saône-et-Loire are “only” at the first alert threshold with an incidence rate of around 135.

Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

With Normandy, it is the only region concerned by confinement only partly, since the only department of Alpes-Maritimes appears in the first list.

But the health situation in the rest of the region is not much better.

It is perhaps even one of the worst outside totally confined regions.

Everywhere, except in Vaucluse, the occupancy rate of intensive care units exceeds 100%.

Besides Nice, three other departments are above 250 cases per 100,000 people, i.e. above the last alert threshold: Var (333), Bouches-du-Rhône (315) and Hautes-Alpes (274 ).

Positive point: no outbreak of cases here, but the average daily number of new contaminations remains very high while there is no longer a hospital margin.

Normandy

In the other region which is only partially confined (Eure and Seine-Maritime) we can indeed speak of an outbreak: at the regional level, we find here the worst reproduction rate of the epidemic in France, 1.19.

This means that on average 10 infected people transmit the virus to 12 people.

The number of new daily cases is increasing quickly and strongly: it has doubled in one month to now stand at more than 1,200.

However, apart from in Seine-Maritime, there is some room in the hospital: “only” two-thirds of intensive care beds are occupied by Covid-19 patients.

Finally, in addition to the two confined departments, Orne also exceeds the last alert threshold with an incidence rate of 264.
