I used to start my weekly lecture in the subject of culture and strategic management wisely, or an old saying related to the topic of the lecture, where I open the way for students to debate about the saying.
Last week, after the quote was appended in the name of the one who said it, I noticed something about the date of birth and death (Mattie Stepanek 1990 - 2004), that is, the wisdom of a child who died at the age of 14, the topic aroused my curiosity, and throughout the week I did not stop thinking about Matti and reading about his life The short and very rich, and I saw in him a wonderful example of challenge, energy, determination and inspiration, and I wanted to tell you a few chapters of his short life, as an example of inspiration and resilience, and as an incentive for someone who feels that his luck is bad, or that his circumstances are difficult.
Matti was born with a very rare disability that stops muscle growth and affects oxygen consumption. He used to move throughout his life with a wheelchair equipped for his condition. At the age of three, he began writing, especially articles calling for peace, love and goodness. At the age of six, he knew that "Oprah Winfrey" would stop Her famous program at the completion of his twentieth year, so he wrote her a letter persuading her to abandon the idea, and to continue the program until the year 25, and indeed this child convinced Oprah Winfrey to reverse her decision, and to extend the program for five years, and she hosted it when he was 11 years old, after which she said that there are three Only people have influenced her life, among the thousands she has interviewed, and "Mati" is the most important of these three.
This inspiring boy wrote seven best-selling books, in addition to a series of song lyrics, entitled “Songs from the Heart,” produced by Sony, as part of an album that achieved fictional sales, and his quotes and opinions are circulated and cited in various countries of the world.
Matti knew that he would die like his three brothers who preceded him with the same syndrome, but he was a brave child and wanted to leave behind a legacy for the world, about which former US President Jimmy Carter said that Matti was the most extraordinary person he had ever known.
The people of Rockville, Maryland, Matte’s birthplace, have established a charity in his name, and his name has been launched on the city’s public park. An American senator has submitted a proposal to establish an International Day of Peace, which coincides with the July 17 anniversary of Matte’s birth.
There is no doubt that Matti’s conditions were better than many around the world because there was someone who believed in him and encouraged him, preserves and publishes his legacy, and perpetuates his memory, but whatever the challenges, faith can achieve miracles, and there is always a way as long as there is a will, and no matter how weak the body and the possibilities are scarce. All people, as our ancestors said, I hope that we will sharpen our resolve, and not give in to circumstances and pressures of life, and let us remember that the world helps those who help themselves, and that the Almighty God is able to soften the iron for us as long as the intention is pure to God Almighty.
