Four former office staff members of the Liberal Democratic Party's House of Representatives have been arrested for deceiving the country's sustainability benefits paid to businesses whose sales have declined due to the effects of the new coronavirus.

The man is believed to have used the title of an office staff to offer fraudulent payments, and police are investigating the details.

Four people were arrested, including a corporate officer in Nakamura Ward, Nagoya City, Hiroshi Kato (34).

According to police, in July last year, the four submitted data to the government over the national sustainability benefits, including data on a false tax return stating that their business income had dropped significantly even though they were not eligible to receive it. Police have not disclosed the approval or disapproval of the four.
