At Saikyoji Temple in Otsu City, which is known as the family temple of Akechi Mitsuhide, a military commander during the Warring States period, a bell that is said to have been donated by Mitsuhide is open to the public.

The public fishing bell "Bonsho" is about 1 meter and 15 centimeters high and about 73 centimeters in diameter, and is believed to have been made during the Heian period, and is designated as an important cultural property of Japan.

It is said that Akechi Mitsuhide donated the bell at Sakamoto Castle in Otsu City, which was his residence, to the temple, and until about 30 years ago, it was actually used as a bell to inform the time.

It is usually closed to the public, but it was opened to the public before the event held at Saikyoji Temple, etc., to coincide with the broadcast of NHK's taiga drama "Kirin ga Kuru" depicting Akechi Mitsuhide.

Unfortunately, it rained in Otsu City on the 21st, but history fans and others visited early in the morning and enthusiastically visited the city.

A man who visited as a couple said, "I learned about the special release on the Internet. I feel the romance of history."

Yoshiki Maesaka, assistant assistant of Saikyoji Temple, said, "It is valuable as a cultural property, but I would like you to feel the history of the Warring States and Akechi Mitsuhide."

"Bonsho" will be released until the 31st of this month.
